cherie bliar contributes to paper recycling

“Celebrity works are some of the lowest sellers – including Cherie Blair who is said to have received a £1million advance for her autobiography. But the book has sold only 23,412 hardbacks and 10,240 paperbacks since 2008.”

I like the “is said to have received”. Nobody’s that daft!

iranians continue increasing pressure on dictatorship

“Violence in Iran continues... Where is the Administration? We must stand up for the Iranian people.”
John McCain

“In the middle of a loud, violent brawl in Tehran, Iran, anti-government protesters manage to corner a handful of riot police who were sent to combat them.

“As the crowd pushes the police against a wall -- with screams coming from all directions -- a protester points his finger at them. "Why are you doing this?" he yells.

“One of the police -- the only one whose helmet is off, his face apparently bloody -- responds. "I'm sorry," he says. "I'm sorry." The other police stand still, trapped by the crowd's grasp.” [Quoted from cnn.com]

The following report from French TV news show the difference between the official Iranian video shots and those of the same incident as shot by demonstrators.

Here are screenshots, the first two from official Iranian sources:

The last screen shot shows the same scene as videoed by demonstrators. You can see the burnt-out riot police bikes in the foreground, and the bank grill behind the riot police to the left.

This is the relevant news video segment:

video from TF1 [in French, 2:12 mins], segment on Iran starts at 0:40

French evening news reports say their reporters have made contact with the mobile phone photographer who photographed the shot body of Seyed Ali Mousavi, nephew of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi. Ali Mousavi was knocked down by a vehicle, then shot in the chest as part of a pre-demonstration warning that anti-government protestors would be punished.

why does the clown go on about a moat and a duck hut?

Parliamentary expenses claimed being repaid:

Douglas Hogg’s moat cleaning - £2,115. Conservative M.P., he’s standing down.
Sir Peter Viggers’ duck house - £1,645. Conservative M.P., “I feel ashamed”, he’s standing down.

Gordon Brown the Clown - £12,415.
Labour M.P. and Prime Minister. His expenses claimed included for a summer hut!
“I haven’t broken any rules.”

Will the Clown be retiring voluntarily?

gordon the clown can’t even make the trains run on time

Thousands were stuck in the Channel Tunnel [the Chunnel] when snow fell in France.

And what were the real reasons for passengers being trapped for up to18 hours in the Chunnel?

“During the weekend channel tunnel fiasco, Eurostar sent five trains into the tunnel and not one came out. Only then did it stop sending trains.

“Okay. Imagine you're Eurostar's fat controller in charge of despatching trains. Two have gone into the tunnel and not come out. Do you send in trains number three, four, and five?”

Of course, the Clown’s fellow fascist in Italy also didn’t make the trains run on time. That’s just yet another socialist myth!

bliar admits he would have found other ways to do the right thing

“Tony Blair has said he would have invaded Iraq even without evidence of weapons of mass destruction and would have found a way to justify the war to parliament and the public.

“The former prime minister made the confession during an interview with Fern Britton, to be broadcast on Sunday on BBC1, in which he said he would still have thought it right to remove Saddam Hussein from power.”

deconstructing uk socialist pre-budget report

“Millions of public sector workers will have to pay higher contributions to meet the soaring cost of providing final salary pensions, the government said today.

“Teachers, nurses, civil servants and local government workers were told they must share the bill for rising retirement costs to limit the impact on the exchequer.”

Comments from a correspondent, Robert Henderson:

The general misunderstanding of tax is beautifully demonstrated also by the complaints today that the NIC [National Insurance Contribution] increases will mean the NHS has to pay another £400 million pa. Simple logic should tell people that income tax and NIC paid by public servants is simply an internal accounting procedure within the public finances. In the case of the NHS, the government gives the NHS an extra £400 million and receives it back when the NIC is paid. In the case of government departments, income tax and NIC is not even moved about within government. It is simply notionally funded and notionally paid. Unlike civil service and police pensions which are notionally funded and actually paid.

Did someone mention Ponzi?

You did - with high justification.

What a bunch of shameless criminals are these socialists.

This is just another way of reducing present wages. It has zero relationship to pensions.

Meanwhile, even the pensions and wages are under continual attack from the money printing.

So, having destroyed/stolen private pensions, now Darling and Brown the Clown are starting to attack their very own clients.

Amazing, and the innumerate keep right on falling for it!

Iincidentally, delenda est socialismus.
