La France défigurée
by Stockshot-One
Rough translation: “I want you to be
called Marie, but you are
called France, but you are disfigured,
Yes, you are my disfigured France, the France of HLMs
and ... of CRS”...
[Words by Jacques Lanzmann, originally sung by Jacques Dutronc in 1973.]
“The left-leaning Libération, one of the two daily newspapers
the French intelligentsia reads, dismissed the marchers, referring with
disdainful sarcaèm to la fièvre flicardiaire—cop
fever. The paper would no doubt have regarded the murder of a single
journalist—that is to say, of a full human being—differently,
let alone the murder of two journalists or six; and of course no one
in the newspaper acknowledged that an effective police force is as vital
a guarantee of personal freedom as a free press, and that the thin blue
line that separates man from brutality is exactly that: thin. This is
not a decent thing for an intellectual to say, however true it might
be.
“It is the private complaint of everyone, however, that the police
have become impotent to suppress and detect crime. Horror stories abound.
A Parisian acquaintance told me how one recent evening he had seen two
criminals attack a car in which a woman was waiting for her husband.
They smashed her side window and tried to grab her purse, but she resisted.
My acquaintance went to her aid and managed to pin down one of the assailants,
the other running off. Fortunately, some police passed by, but to my
acquaintance’s dismay let the assailant go, giving him only a
warning.
“My acquaintance said to the police that he would make a complaint.
The senior among them advised him against wasting his time. At that
time of night, there would be no one to complain to in the local commissariat.
He would have to go the following day and would have to wait on line
for three hours. He would have to return several times, with a long
wait each time. And in the end, nothing would be done.
“As for the police, he added, they did not want to make an arrest
in a case like this. There would be too much paperwork. And even if
the case came to court, the judge would give no proper punishment. Moreover,
such an arrest would retard their careers. The local police chiefs were
paid by results—by the crime rates in their areas of jurisdiction.
The last thing they wanted was for policemen to go around finding and
recording crime.
Not long afterward, I heard of another case in which the police simply
refused to record the occurrence of a burglary, much less try to catch
the culprits.
—
“One rap group, the Ministère amer (Bitter Ministry),
won special official praise. Its best-known lyric: “Another woman
takes her beating./ This time she’s called Brigitte./ She’s
the wife of a cop./ The novices of vice piss on the police./ It’s
not just a firework, scratch the clitoris./ Brigitte the cop’s
wife likes niggers./ She’s hot, hot in her pants.” This
vile rubbish receives accolades for its supposed authenticity: for in
the multiculturalist’s mental world, in which the savages are
forever noble, there is no criterion by which to distinguish high art
from low trash. And if intellectuals, highly trained in the Western
tradition, are prepared to praise such degraded and brutal pornography,
it is hardly surprising that those who are not so trained come to the
conclusion that there cannot be anything of value in that tradition.
Cowardly multiculturalism thus makes itself the handmaiden of anti-Western
extremism.
—
“Though most people in France have never visited a cité,
they dimlyknow that long-term unemployment among the young is so rife
there that it is the normal state of being. Indeed, French youth unemployment
is among the highest in Europe—and higher the further you descend
the social scale, largely because high minimum wages, payroll taxes,
and labor protection laws make employers loath to hire those whom they
cannot easily fire, and whom they must pay beyond what their skills
are worth.
“Everyone acknowledges that unemployment, particularly of the
permanent kind, is deeply destructive, and that the devil really does
find work for idle hands; but the higher up the social scale you ascend,
the more firmly fixed is the idea that the labor-market rigidities that
encourage unemployment are essential both to distinguish France from
the supposed savagery of the Anglo-Saxon neo-liberal model (one soon
learns from reading the French newspapers what anglo-saxon connotes
in this context), and to protect the downtrodden from exploitation.
But the labor-market rigidities protect those who least need protection,
while condemning the most vulnerable to utter hopelessness: and if sexual
hypocrisy is the vice of the Anglo-Saxons, economic hypocrisy is the
vice of the French.” [Quoted from city-journal.org, 2002]
end note
- CRS
- Compagnies Républicaines de Sécurité - Republican Security Companies.
The CRS is the reserve of the National Police and is often concerned with controlling riots and crowds, as well as re-establishing public order. They are known for their harsh repression of perceived miscreants, which repression can be violent. Probably better to not let your path cross with CRS officers.

obama’s consituencies
“Hillary Clinton's big win in Pennsylvania is reviving the question
of whether racial prejudice among some US voters could scupper her Democratic
presidential foe Barack Obama's quest for history.
“Clinton anchored a campaign-saving win Tuesday on her core
coalition of white, working class voters, a bloc in which Obama -- vying
to become America's first black president -- finds it difficult to make
inroads.
“Exit polls conducted for US media organizations found that 18
percent of Democratic voters said race was a factor in their decision,
and only 63 percent said they would back Obama in a general election
if he was the nominee.
“Obama won 90 percent of the African American vote, continuing
his dominance of that crucial Democratic constituency. Clinton meanwhile
won 63 percent of the much larger, white vote.
“In the fallout from the bruising Pennsylvania campaign, a politically
incorrect question is again being asked: is America ready to vote for
a black president, especially in key swing states like Ohio and
Pennsylvania?
“ "Race is very definitely, part of the white working class
vote," said Clay Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac
University Polling Institute.”
Obarma has three constituencies:
- Young fools absent of judgement taken in by the
latest pop act.
- Pseudo-intellectuals with no real world experience
(that is, with ‘degrees’ in English, history or sociology).
- Among these groups, some will be extreme lefties
like Obama. (That is, America is the great Satan; blacks are victims,
as in the article above. Any problems are due to white racism.)
- Self-identifying ‘blacks’.
The ‘whites’ voting for him are in the
first three groups.
I see no strong evidence of white racism in the figures,
as over 60% of white Democrats say they would back Obama as candidate,
and the above groups 1, 2, and 3 are already supporting him. There are
far more pressing reasons
for opposing Obama without blaming opposing to him on his skin reflectivity index.
However, I cannot without great contortion believe
that over 90% of ‘blacks’ fall solely into groups 1, 2 and 3.

loony left dragging the democrats down again
“For the first time, Democratic loyalists not necessarily committed
to Clinton are wondering whether the party's system for picking a nominee
is the problem. If caucuses were eliminated and only primaries were
used, Obama's 130-delegate lead would turn into an advantage of 45 delegates
for Clinton.”
Obarma would not have a chance with secret ballots.
Even with the black racist vote, he loses just about everywhere there
is a secret vote. He won those caucuses by flooding them with his own
young supporters, who Hillary says intimidated her own supporters,
often older women, into silence. This is a standard operating procedure for socialists
everywhere.
Similar methods were used in the UK by Socialist militants to
dominate the unions and thence attempt a coup using industrial inaction.
It was Margaret Thatcher’s laws to force secret
ballots that started the turn around, and then the Socialists in the electorate voted the wreckers
in again when the Socialist Party learned to repackage their idiocy as ‘New’
Labour.
Socialism destroys everything it touches.
Caucuses should be illegal. Any genuine democratic system
demands secrecy for just these reasons.

on the tedious and dangerous obarma
“It is understandable that young people are so strongly attracted
to Obama. Youth is another name for inexperience -- and experience is
what is most needed when dealing with skillful and charismatic demagogues.
“Those of us old enough to have seen the type again and again
over the years can no longer find them exciting. Instead, they are as
tedious as they are dangerous.”
—
“However inconsistent Obama's words, his behavior has been remarkably
consistent over the years. He has sought out and joined with the radical,
anti-Western left, whether Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers of the terrorist
Weatherman underground or pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli Rashid Khalidi.
“Obama is also part of a long tradition on the left of being
for the working class in the abstract, or as people potentially useful
for the purposes of the left, but having disdain or contempt for them
as human beings.”

as usual, government is the problem, not the solution
Two examples:
- “Take ethanol, the much-hyped biofuel made (primarily) from
corn. ”
—
“The fate of ethanol, including how much of it is produced, should
be determined by the decentralized process of free exchange - by the
voluntary interactions of countless consumers and producers, buyers
and sellers, each acting according to his best judgment and in his own
best interest. Instead, Congress and the president, convinced as always
that they know best, imposed a single, inflexible, ham-fisted directive
from above. The result is that the carbon dioxide they aimed to reduce
will be increased, and many people will suffer unnecessary misfortune.”
- “The subprime mortgage collapse is another tale of unintended
consequences.”
—
“Trapped in a no-win situation entirely of the government's making,
lenders could only hope that home prices would continue to rise, staving
off the inevitable collapse. But once the housing bubble burst, there
was no escape. Mortgage lenders have been bankrupted, thousands of subprime
homeowners have been foreclosed on, and countless would-be borrowers
can no longer get credit. The financial fallout has hurt investors around
the world. And all of it thanks to the government, which was sure it
understood the credit industry better than the free market did, and
confidently created the conditions that made disaster unavoidable.”

socialist britain - while bliar mouths platitudes inside, the mindless peasants howl outside
“ "I can't prove that religious faith offers something more
than humanism, but I believe profoundly that it does," he added.
"And since religious faith has such a strong historical and cultural
influence on both East and West, it can help unify around common values
what otherwise might be a battle for domination." ”
—
“While he spoke, hundreds of protesters from the Stop the War
Coalition, which held Blair responsible for taking Britain into the
war in Iraq, tried to drown out his words with a "wall of sound"
outside. They used musical instruments, whistles, pans and alarms to
make as much noise as possible. Some stood beneath the windows of the
cathedral and howled at the tops of their voices.”

obarma - latest glimpse behind the secretive facade
“But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded
that we can make progress when there's not evidence of that in their
daily lives. You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania,
and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone
now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through
the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive
administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate
and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they
cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them
or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain
their frustrations.”
Note “...cling to....religion...”
This is yet another indicator that Obama’s
position on religion is not what he pretends.
~
“...they get bitter..” and
“...antipathy to people...” and
“their frustrations...”.
Is he projecting his own bitterness rather than
talking about the state of the average real person? In my view, he has
a serious chip on his shoulder.
~
“...the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration,
and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities
are gonna regenerate and they have not...”
Where is the evidence Clinton and Bush said that?
~
“... these communities are gonna regenerate...”
What does ‘regenerate’ mean? Are
these communities, and the people in them static? What exactly is he proposing
to do, if anything?
What ‘anti-trade’ sentiment? Isn’t
he posturing against free trade?

gordon brown’s idea of how to tax
Gordon Brown the Clown taking less money from those
who produce is not the Clown ‘helping’ them. It is the Clown
stealing less to give to his parasitical constituency.
There are 800,000 new government ‘employees’,
and counting. Approaching half the population of the United Kingdom is dependent on
Brown’s fiddling ‘benefits’.
The UK has the largest indebtedness in the advanced
world.
‘New’ Labour is once more destroying the
UK economy.
“Northern Rock, the British bank nationalised in connection
with a global credit crisis, said Monday it suffered a 2007 pre-tax
loss after turning a profit in 2006 and forecast another shortfall this
year.
“The bank reported a pre-tax loss of 167.6 million pounds (210.5
million euros, 332.7 million euros) after a profit of 626.7 million
pounds in 2006 and said it expected to be "significantly loss-making"
in 2008.” [Quoted from news.yahoo.com]
Readers may not realise
that the Clown’s glorified tent, the Millenium Dome [now called The
O2 ] is still (despite ‘New’ Labour lies) costing
taxpayers money - over £1 billion and counting, while one
of the most complex telescope installations is expected to cost only £200
million, and that is after being dragged up a
mountain in Chile.
“The $400 million scope, to be
located on a mountaintop in Chile, will scan and photograph the entire
available night sky endlessly, moving every 40 seconds and snapping
another 15-second exposure photo on the world's largest digital camera
chip. It will cover the entire visible night sky every three nights.
The short time lapse will allow astronomers to pick out short-term changes
in space - something that appears where there was nothing just a few
nights earlier.” [Quoted from azstarnet.com]
And don’t forget the
Chinese WaterCube, which cost roughly £100 million.
The LHC particle accelerator at CERN, Geneva.
Image: CERN, Geneva
Then there is the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a particle accelerator
situated at CERN, near Geneva, Switzerland. Located in a circular, underground
tunnel, between 50 to 175 metres underground, that stretches from Switzerland
into France, the LHC is 27 kilometres in circumference and is currently
being cooled to its working temperature of ~2K (-271°C). It is funded
and built co-operatively by over two thousand physicists from thirty-four
countries, as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories. The final
cost for this huge and vastly complex facility is expected to be between
US$5 and US$10 billion.
Take your choice. Everything Brown the Clown
touches is riddled by incompetence and corruption.

another piece of murderous old socialist sewage slowly swirling down the drain
of history
“Using official vote counts posted outside polling stations after
polls closed on Saturday night, the MDC declared Mr Tsvangirai "Zimbabwe’s
next president" with 50.3 per cent of the vote. The count gave
Mr Mugabe 43.8 per cent. The remaining 6 per cent went to the Zanu (PF)
defector Simba Makoni, who has already pledged his votes in a run-off
to the MDC.”
—
“ "According to the final results of Saturday’s elections
announced last night, the opposition led by the Movement for Democratic
Change (MDC) has secured an absolute majority, winning 109 of parliament’s
210 seats.”

the hypocrite in no. 10 now wants to build coal-fired generators
“So it is extraordinary that the Government is trying to rush
through a new generation of coal-fired power stations. Coal produces
almost three times as much carbon dioxide per unit of electricity as
gas. The shift from coal to gas in the 1980s accounts for almost all
the progress Britain has made on reducing emissions. But John Hutton,
the Energy Minister, has been bending over backwards to help the energy
company E.ON to build a new plant at Kingsnorth, Kent, which now has
planning permission.”
—
“Britain's antediluvian coal rush is provoking furious rows in
Whitehall. Hilary Benn's department is livid that it has responsibility
for environment but not energy and that while it begs energy companies
to insulate grannies' homes, Mr Hutton gladhands them through the planning
system. Downing Street is increasingly irritated by the muddle.”
—
“China are impressed by action, not words. Mr Brown has to make
it clear that conventional coal has no future.
“A few weeks ago I met Professor C.S. Kiang, founder of the Beijing
College of Environmental Sciences. "You've shifted the blame to
us," said this mild-mannered academic, "by shifting your manufacturing
to us. We have to solve this together." We can't blame the Chinese
for building coal-fired power stations if we do the same. And no amount
of bleating about plastic bags is going to make up for it.”
